HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL : Mt. Miguel Scrambles for Win

After scoring only 11 points in the second quarter and 14 in the third, Mt. Miguel (4-4) came through with 38 points in the final quarter to upend University City, 86-74, in a non-league game played at Mt. Miguel.

Five Matadors finished in double figures: Mike Clymer, 16; Robbie Sandavol, 16; Marcos Gallardo, 16; Damien Willis, 15 and Nate Wilson, 13.

In the Grossmont Tournament:

Clairemont 76, El Cajon Valley 63--Clairemont (2-2) had four players reach double figures, including 6-foot-5 1/2 junior forward John Brady, who finished with 24 points after scoring only four in the first half. Other Chieftains in double figures were: Craig Mounier, 14; Rahsaan Brown, 16 and John Price, 12 points.
