Argentina Selling Phone Company: Argentina launched its largest-ever stock auction, offering shares in the Telefonica de Argentina telephone company in a sale expected to bring in more than $600 million. The Peronist government, espousing “popular capitalism,” hopes to sell 30% of the stock in Telefonica, one of two companies that sprang up when the state-owned ENTel was split last year.
