Fewer Art Patrons

In regard to “What Recession? The 6th Annual ART/LA91 Puts On a Happy Face” (Nov. 19), I would like to call attention to the lack of assistance from many of the patrons who have backed the exhibit in the past. It is a shame that these patrons have been affected so vastly by the recession that they have had to pull their support.
The artists are the ones who truly suffer, because so many of them depend on this kind of exposure to advance their recognition. Without events such as this, the appreciation of their art is limited.
I feel that it is essential that The Times continue to print articles regarding the current financial problems that the art world faces in order to arouse awareness.
