Ventura Women Reach Volleyball Final

Unbeaten Ventura College earned a berth in the state junior college women’s volleyball championship with a 15-6, 15-12, 15-11 victory over Orange Coast in a Southern California regional final Tuesday night at Ventura.

In another regional final, Pierce (15-8) was eliminated by defending state champion Golden West, 15-12, 16-14, 15-6.

Venessa Hackett had 16 kills and eight digs to lead Ventura (21-0), which will open play in the eight-team state final Friday night at Cuesta. Erin Donaldson had 10 kills and nine digs, and Candise Baker had seven kills and seven digs.
