Woods, Booth Advance in Junior Tournament
TUCSON, Ariz. — Tiger Woods of Cypress shot a seven-over-par 79 Friday, finishing in a tie for sixth and qualifying for the championship match-play portion of the annual Rolex Junior tournament.
Woods completed the two rounds at La Paloma Country Club with a 12-over 156, eight shots behind medalist Gilberto Morales of Venezuela.
Among those who qualified for match play in age-group divisions were Scott Gibson of Huntington Beach in 17-18 and Ben Garner of El Toro in 15-16.
In the girls’ competition, Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza advanced to match play with a 162 total, including a seven-over 79 Friday.
