The Highlanders opted for the tie, but kicker Tim Boundy missed wide left. The Tigers (8-3), who play Kennedy in the second round Wednesday, recovered the ensuing onside-kick attempt and ran the clock out for the win.
Granada Hills tailback Raheem Kyle rushed for 157 yards in 20 carries. He pulled the Highlanders to within 13-6 with a 67-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Boundy’s extra-point try was blocked.
