Sylmar 14, Venice 0--Senior running back Tobaise Brookins rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns in 27 carries to pace the host Spartans (9-1). In the second round, Sylmar plays at San Fernando, a 35-7 winner over Birmingham.

Sylmar’s two touchdown drives were almost identical with both capped by one-yard plunges by Brookins. He carried the ball six times for 47 yards in the first scoring drive, a 10-play, 69-yard march in the second quarter, and then carried eight times for 60 yards in a 10-play, 70-yard drive in the third period.
