LAPD Names New Head of Its Harbor Division

A 19-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department has been named to head its Harbor Division.

Capt. Timothy King, 41, a Lomita resident, will succeed Capt. Joseph C. De Ladurantey, who was recently named Torrance police chief. King, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Long Beach and a master’s from Cal State Los Angeles, has been a Harbor Division patrol commander and chief investigator of the department’s International Affairs Division. He now heads the LAPD’s personnel department.

“King is following in the footsteps of a man who clearly understands what our policing efforts have to be--that our community is our partner,” said Fred Nixon, an LAPD spokesman. “I think King has that same philosophy and will do an outstanding job.”
