Fluor Daniel Inc. and its German subsidiary announced Tuesday that each has received new engineering contracts, which together are worth $50 million.
Mount Isa Mines Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Brisbane, Australia-based MIM Holdings, awarded Fluor Daniel a $40-million contract to improve metal recovery from its milling and flotation facilities. The facilities are part of a 3.6-million-ton-per-year lead, zinc and silver mine located in northern Queensland, Australia.
A second contract, valued at $10 million, was awarded to Fluor Daniel GmbH of Duesseldorf, Germany, by Huls AG, a large German chemical producer, which is wholly owned by Duesseldorf-based Veba AG. The project requires the addition of a polypropylene manufacturing line to an existing chemical plant at Scholven, in northwestern Germany. Polypropylene is used in the manufacture of automotive parts and other plastic components.
Fluor said engineering is under way for both projects, which are scheduled to be completed in late 1992.
Fluor Daniel, an international engineering, construction, maintenance and technical services company, is Fluor Corp.’s principal subsidiary.
