GARDEN GROVE — A woman was stabbed to death Sunday and police said her attacker apparently attempted suicide with the same knife in an incident authorities described as a domestic dispute.
The man suspected of being the attacker, Raul Corrales, 24, was hospitalized at UCI Medical Center Sunday night in extremely critical condition with serious knife wounds, police said. They did not identify the victim except to say she was a 27-year-old Latina.
The woman was stabbed numerous times in the head, neck and torso and was taken to UCI Medical Center, where she died at 6 p.m., Police Lt. John Woods said.
Police were called to the apartment in the 12000 block of Chapman Avenue just after 5 p.m. by someone inside the couple’s apartment who reported the fight as it was in progress, Woods said. The officer who arrived on the scene saw Corrales plunging a large kitchen knife into his own neck, Woods said.
Woods said that the exact nature of the relationship between the man and the woman is not yet known but that it appeared that the two were living together in the apartment.
