Arizona’s Running Attack Comes Alive in 45-21 Win

TUCSON — Ontiwaun Carter ran for 160 yards and three first-half touchdowns and two teammates also had 100-yard games as Arizona’s pent-up running attack extended winless Oregon State’s season-long misery, 45-21, Saturday night.
Arizona, coming off three consecutive lopsided defeats to ranked teams, improved to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the Pacific 10 by rushing for 460 yards and gaining 581 yards overall.
The rushing and overall yardage figures were the fifth-best in school history and the most against a Pac-10 opponent.
Oregon State dropped to 0-8 and 0-5.
Carter, a freshman, had 120 yards on his first five carries and he scored two of Arizona’s first three touchdowns.
Chuck Levy rushed 19 times for 156 yards, scored on a 14-yard run and threw a 15-yard touchdown to Lamar Lovett.
Billy Johnson added 100 yards in 18 carries and scored on a 12-yard run.
It was the first time three Arizona backs rushed for 100 yards or more in a game.
