Duarte Raises Industrial Sewer Fees
The Duarte City Council has increased fees for sewer and industrial water permits, establishing rates at double those set by the county and linking future increases to changes in county fees.
The new law, approved unanimously Oct. 22, will affect restaurants, gas stations and other businesses that discharge industrial waste into the city sewer system.
To ensure that such firms comply with health and safety procedures, the city periodically conducts annual inspections, waste water sampling and plan reviews for industrial waste disposal.
Under the ordinance, which takes effect Nov. 22, a new business will pay $390 for a permit and $202 for subsequent annual inspections. The fees will pay for inspections and cover city administrative expenses.
