MOORPARK : Chamber to Launch Anti-Crime Watch
- Share via
The Moorpark Chamber of Commerce will launch a new Business Watch program today to fight crime at local shops and businesses.
Under the program, which is modeled after Neighborhood Watch, local business owners and workers will work together to help deter shoplifting, robbery, vandalism and other crimes, said Carol Hunt, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce.
Other communities also have Business Watch, but a local printer has designed a window decal that will be unique to Moorpark, said Sgt. Mike De Los Santos of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. The decals will be available to businesses that pay a $25 registration fee, Hunt said.
The decals are intended to discourage robbers and other criminals by warning them that businesses will be alert to problems at each other’s establishments.
The chamber will mail information on the new program to all local businesses, including retail, industrial and commercial establishments, Hunt said.
