The Pittsburgh Pirates won’t permit Manager Jim Leyland talk to the Chicago White Sox or anyone else about switching jobs.
The White Sox, who lost Manager Jeff Torborg to the New York Mets, had expressed interest in talking with Leyland, who has two years remaining on his contract.
But Pirate spokesman Rick Cerrone said: “(Club chairman Doug) Danforth made it quite clear that he wants Jim Leyland to be a Tommy Lasorda type of man and manage the Pirates not only for the next two years, but beyond.”
