Umbrellas Are a Gift to Many

Let us remember that all $26 million spent by Christo was the artist’s own money. Who among us would easily accept that our personal expenditures be dictated by public opinion?

May we see financial disclosure statements from all of these moralizers vociferously demanding that Christo should have given the money to the hungry, homeless, mentally ill and other causes?

May we see how much of their own money each of them has contributed to the same causes?

The umbrella project was and is a tremendous gift to a tremendous number of people. To those who criticize, I ask, “What have you done lately that has positively affected so many?”
