Billionaire H. Ross Perot said that Oliver L. North lied in his new book by suggesting that Perot asked him to shield President Ronald Reagan from the Iran-Contra scandal. North wrote that Perot made the request at two December, 1986, meetings with North’s lawyer, Brendan V. Sullivan Jr. Perot acknowledged meeting with North and Sullivan once in December of that year, but he said the former White House aide’s allegations are false. “I have no idea why Lt. Col. North made up this false story that appears in his book,” Perot said in a telephone interview from his office in Dallas. “I never wanted to protect anybody.”
