Gay Rights Protesters
I would like to thank you for your excellent coverage of the blossoming gay rights movement. However, I would like to point out that your coverage of events on Oct. 13, as reported on Oct. 14, were shoddy. I personally attended the event so I am an eyewitness. There were far more than 300 people at this particular march; I would say 2,000-3,000 people. The people were not chanting “Let Rocky Go” but rather “Let Rodney Go.” The reason they were chanting “Let Rodney Go” was not made clear in the article either. They were chanting that because Rodney, who is blind from AIDS, was being held and charged with assaulting a mall security guard when in reality it was the security guard beating Rodney. We surrounded the Beverly Center until Rodney was released.
