Gay Rights Protesters
We applaud The Times’ editorial condemning Gov. Wilson’s veto of AB 101. His betrayal of his principles and position during his campaign is shocking enough. But when people are actually losing jobs and facing a variety of forms of discrimination based solely on their sexual orientation, this betrayal becomes immoral. Until the day come when bigoted people stop treating gays and lesbians as a special category of people who can be fired, refused housing, thrown out of the military and refused child custody simply because of their sexual orientation, we will continue to seek inclusion with other groups that are currently protected. The gay and lesbian community will not let Wilson’s veto be forgotten. This is our California Stonewall!
