Oak Park High remained unbeaten with a 10-8 victory over St. Bonaventure in a Tri-Valley League opener Friday night at Oak Park. The win was costly, however, because Eagle quarterback Damian Delfino suffered a broken collarbone.
Delfino, who is expected to be out six to eight weeks, was replaced by junior Alex Eckert with Oak Park (6-1 overall) leading, 7-0, midway through the second quarter.
Eckert guided the Eagles from the 48-yard line to the Seraph 25 in 10 plays and Jeff Gibbons kicked a 42-yard field goal.
St. Bonaventure (3-3) scored early in the fourth quarter on a 35-yard run by R. J. Kisling, and Toby Noblin added a two-point conversion run. Later in the quarter, the Seraphs moved the ball to the Eagle 25 but turned the ball over on downs.
Jon Liebe scored on an eight-yard run in the second quarter to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead.
Kisling (101 yards) and Noblin (126 yards) led the Seraphs, who had 257 rushing yards.
