HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Boseman Carries Morningside Over Culver City
Quarterback Stais Boseman’s versatility was too much for visiting Culver City High Friday night when he led Inglewood Morningside over the Centaurs, 33-13, at Coleman Stadium in Inglewood.
Boseman rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another in accounting for 261 total yards.
Morningside improved its record to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in Ocean League play.
Culver City (0-1, 3-0) took a 7-0 lead after quarterback Dameron Ricketts ran 80 yards for a touchdown on the game’s third play from scrimmage.
Then, Boseman, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior, took control with a 64-yard run that keyed a five-play, 89-yard Morningside scoring drive. Boseman finished the drive with a one-yard run, and the score was tied, 7-7.
“I felt like I had to get us back into the game real quick,” said Boseman, who also played defensive back. “I tried to get the offense going because we usually start slow.”
Morningside took a 12-7 lead to open the second quarter on a five-yard run by Montres Gords. The Monarchs then scored twice late in the half on a seven-yard pass from Boseman to Jesse Swayze and a two-yard run by Swayze to take a 26-7 lead.
