EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Twilight Agenda pushed his way to the lead midway through the stretch and held off Scan in the closing strides to win the $500,000 Meadowlands Cup by a neck on Friday night. Sea Cadet finished third.
Twilight Agenda, ridden by Chris McCarron and trained by Wayne Lukas, covered the 1 1/8-mile test for 3-year-olds and up in 1:46 3/-5, a fifth of a second off the track record set by Scan on Sept. 20 in the Pegasus Handicap.
As the field neared the top of the final turn, Sea Cadet, with Alex Solis, moved to the lead with Twilight Agenda in the middle lane, and Scan to the outside in close pursuit.
Twilight Agenda paid $6.40, $3.60 and $2.80 and earned $300,000 for the Moyglare Stud Farm.
