‘Splendor’ 3-1 Choice in International

LAUREL, Md. — Solar Splendor topped a field of 14 horses entered for Saturday’s $750,000 Budweiser International at Laurel Race Course.
Solar Splendor, winner of the Turf Classic and Man o’War, drew the No. 12 post position Thursday and was made the 3-1 favorite for the 1 1/4-mile race, one of five graded stakes scheduled for the turf course this weekend in the International Turf Festival.
Algenib, the 1990 Argentine Horse of the Year who was fifth in the Man o’War, was the second choice.
