Foothill 17, Santa Ana Valley 0--After stumbling to losses in four of its five nonleague games, Foothill opened its Century League schedule with a victory at Northrup Field in Tustin.
The victory allowed Foothill (2-4, 1-0) to end a two-game losing streak. Santa Ana Valley is 0-6, 0-1.
Foothill senior Rob Higby intercepted an Armando Cuevo pass with 9 minutes 34 seconds left and returned it 17 yards to provide the only second-half scoring.
Tight end Mike Urbanski caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Steve Wielandt early in the second quarter for one score. Jason Vlcek kicked a 21-yard field goal with 25 seconds left in the first half for the other one.
The Knights defense limited the Falcons to 49 yards of total offense. Foothill finished with 110 yards of total offense, but was held to minus 3 in the second half.
