Florida Cities Spared as Storm Bypasses Coast

MIAMI — A wet but puny Tropical Storm Fabian swung past southeast Florida and through the Bahamas on Wednesday to the open Atlantic, where it all but disappeared.
The path spared Florida cities still wringing out after a drenching last week. The storm’s ill-defined center passed about 50 miles east of Miami, said Jack Beven of the National Hurricane Center in suburban Coral Gables.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November.
