A dispute between two groups in the Oxnard High School football stadium on Friday night escalated into a brawl that ended with five people arrested for disturbing the peace and five police officers injured, authorities said.
At 10 p.m. Friday, after the game was finished, a fight broke out between two Oxnard groups, said Lt. Robert Kelley of the Oxnard Police Department.
“Evidently one group of kids challenged another group of kids,” Kelley said. Fifty to 150 people were involved in the melee, and all were from Oxnard, Kelley said.
About 25 officers from the Oxnard and Port Hueneme police departments arrived to break up the brawl, which lasted about 20 minutes.
The five people arrested were later cited and released, Kelley said.
