Angel outfielder Dave Winfield will be allowed another trial to persuade jurors that he did not have a common-law marriage to Sandra Renfro, a former flight attendant. The First Court of Appeals in Texas, in a 2-1 ruling, threw out a 1989 decision by a Houston court because of a technical error.

Renfro, who lives in Austin, told jurors that Winfield agreed to the common-law marriage in 1982. She filed for divorce in 1985.
