Santa Ynez 34, Santa Paula 17--Junior tailback Jeremy Spry gained 265 yards in 18 carries and scored five touchdowns to lead host Santa Ynez (3-2) to a runaway victory.
Spry’s 265 yards broke a 27-year-old school record and his five touchdowns tied a school mark.
Spry’s first two carries of the second half resulted in touchdowns of 48 and 90 yards to break open a 14-3 game. His other touchdowns runs measured 51, 14 and six yards.
Santa Paula (2-3) failed to score a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter when Ray Rodriguez caught a nine-yard pass from quarterback Erasmo Jacinto that trimmed Santa Ynez’s lead to 27-10.
