As expected, the Agoura High girls’ cross-country team skyrocketed to the top of the national rankings in the Oct. 14 issue of The Harrier magazine. The team was not ranked at the start of the season.
Agoura’s bid for No. 1 was supported by an upset of second-ranked Escondido San Pasqual in the Woodbridge invitational Sept. 21 and by more than a 1-minute, 20-second improvement in its cumulative team times on two major-invitational courses this season.
Mountain View of Orem, Utah, dropped to No. 2 and San Pasqual fell to third.
The Hart boys’ team remained No. 1 nationally after drubbing third-ranked Madera, 50-81, in the Stanford invitational last Saturday. Viewmont of Bountiful, Utah, is ranked second.
A volleyball coaches clinic featuring USA National team Coach Fred Sturm and Cal State Northridge Coach John Price will be held Sunday, Oct. 27, at the CSUN Gymnasium.
The clinic, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is geared toward volleyball coaches at the high school and junior college levels and will include demonstrations by the Northridge men’s volleyball team.
Registration will be taken at the door beginning at 8:30 a.m. A fee includes a season pass for all 1992 CSUN men’s volleyball home matches.
