NBC News to Reimburse Disney World: The network said it will compensate the theme park for the free hotel rooms and air fare provided to “Today” show staff for coverage of last week’s 20th anniversary celebration. Disney provided facilities and transportation to about 33 staffers in exchange for a mention in the credits at the end of the broadcasts Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. The value of the “trade out” was about $40,000. Critics said the “freebies” compromised the integrity of NBC News and amounted to a two-day commercial for the Orlando, Fla., theme park. Disney World also paid costs of many journalists and analysts at the event.
