USAir Asks Employees to Take Pay Cut: The troubled carrier, whose losses will hit $1 billion by the end of the year, has asked employees to accept pay cuts of up to 20% in exchange for stock options and a share of future profits, the Washington Post is reporting in today’s editions. The airline is expected to announce Oct. 14 that it is imposing the cuts on non-union employees and will seek similar concessions from its three unions in contract negotiations.
