A couple leaving a nightclub in the 3700 block of National Avenue were wounded in a drive-by shooting, police said. Two men were later arrested.
Richard Henderson, 24, was shot once in the left calf and Kim Sims, 21, was shot once in the right calf as they left the Old Timers’ Club shortly before midnight Monday, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. Both were in good condition at Paradise Valley Hospital, he said.
Police saw the suspects’ vehicle about 12:10 a.m. and, after a brief chase, arrested Ray Otis, 26, and Derrick Joiner, 20, when their car crashed into a fire hydrant at 47th and Market streets, Robinson said.
The two were booked into County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Police had not determined Tuesday whether the shooting was gang-related, Robinson said.
