FILLMORE : Math Up, English Down in SAT Scores

Fillmore High School students who took the Scholastic Aptitude Test last spring scored slightly higher in math than Fillmore graduates from the previous year, but lower in English, school officials said.
And fewer Fillmore students took the test--48 students in the class of 1991, compared with 59 students the previous year, officials said.
Twenty Fillmore students scored in the top 25% of all students in math, a district report showed. Twelve Fillmore students scored in the top 25% of all students on the test’s verbal section.
The SAT is used by colleges nationwide as a measure of a student’s aptitude for college. In SAT results released in August, scores at most other Ventura County school districts improved.
