Environmental Group Slams Green Cross: Environmental Defense Fund, a leading environmental group, accused Green Cross, a company that certifies products’ environmental claims, of allowing its logo to be used in ways that mislead consumers. In a 50-page report, the EDF said Green Cross, based in Oakland, “must substantially change its practices and procedures if it is to be a credible certifier of environmental claims.” Green Cross President Stanley Rhodes said the report “is full of misleading conclusions, distortions and outright misrepresentations.”
