One Vote Against Lawsuit Futures

Michael Schrage’s column “An Option for All to Profit From Lawyers” (Aug. 15) really stirred my blood.
How can someone advocate a concept of selling a lawsuit like a stock offering? My opinion of lawyers (not unlike the majority of people’s) is that they are mostly bloodthirsty, immoral individuals looking out only for their own pocketbooks.
Schrage fails to realize that his idea would promote more litigation in this country, and that is not what America needs.
People who have been through a lawsuit know that it is one of the most depressing, unproductive things that you can be involved in.
This country certainly does not need any more of these useless wastes of time and the courts do not need any more lawsuits on the already jammed calendars.
