PORT HUENEME : 16-Year-Old Held in Robberies at Market
An Oxnard teen-ager was arrested Friday on suspicion of robbing a Port Hueneme convenience store on two occasions earlier this month and then attempting to rob the same store for a third time, police said.
The unidentified 16-year-old was arrested at his home by Port Hueneme police about 11 a.m., authorities said.
The youth has admitted using an automatic pistol to rob the Circle K Market at 232 E. Pleasant Valley Road on Aug. 6 and 21, according to a police statement.
He also admitted that he tried to rob the same store again Aug. 24. But he was unarmed that time, and the store clerk and a customer foiled the robbery, the police statement said.
Police said the youth told them that he is a gang member and that the third robbery attempt was “for fun.”
