VENTURA : Woman Walking Alone Is Raped

A Ventura woman was raped while walking alone in the 1000 block of Poinsettia Place, a Ventura police spokesman said.
The rape occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday when the woman was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground, the spokesman said.
Another man witnessed the rape, and both fled on foot when a truck passed the scene, he said.
Police said the two men appeared to be in their 20s.
The woman was treated at Ventura County Medical Center and released.
