NOT SO COOPERATIVE: A motley group of lobbyists has joined in a belated campaign to save the Cooperative Extension office at UC Irvine, which has predicted its own death should the county supervisors stick to their budget cuts next Tuesday.... “Pregnant teen-agers, low-income Latinos and Vietnamese, farmers, 4-H kids, they’re all writing letters trying to convince someone this program should be saved,” said Anne Cotter, a spokeswoman. Pregnant teens and low-income people use the agency’s nutrition programs.
