Three San Fernando Valley residents were arrested Thursday and charged with operating a bogus medical claims scheme that bilked Los Angeles County out of $400,000.
Zisele Dina Oreck, 71, her daughter, Geraldine Harriet Ross, 44, both of Woodland Hills, and Joseph Francis Lopez, 63, of Chatsworth, face charges including grand theft and conspiracy to practice medicine without a license.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Pamela Cain said Oreck and Lopez are accused of setting up a medical facility called San Louris Medical Center in Culver City without obtaining the proper license.
Ross, authorities said, worked for a claims adjuster and referred more than 90 county employees to Lopez, who uses the initials M.D. behind his name but is not licensed to practice medicine in California.
