A man was stabbed to death early Saturday in front of a bar in Escondido, where he and another patron had been drinking and arguing, police said.
Witnesses said that Jorge Machuca, 26, and another man had been drinking heavily and arguing at the Sundance Saloon in the 400 block of North Rose Street when the altercation continued outside the bar at 2 a.m., said an Escondido Police spokesman.
Police said Machuca had come to the United States from Mexico City as recently as three weeks ago and at the time of his death was living in the 400 block of Midway Drive in Escondido.
He died in the Palomar Hospital operating room at 3:07 a.m., police said.
