Paul MacNamara; Producer Promoted Flag Display

Paul MacNamara, 84, a producer and promoter who persuaded more than 200 magazines to run American flags on their covers during World War II. A New York native educated at Pratt Institute, MacNamara handled promotions for several Hearst magazines, and organized the flag display as support for American troops in 1944. After the war, he moved to Hollywood, where he did promotions for David O. Selznick and other producers. He was a frequent contributor to Los Angeles magazine. On Tuesday in Los Angeles after a stroke.
