The Baldwin Park Unified School District has hired a superintendent to oversee its 19 elementary, junior high and high school campuses.
Lawrence Kemper, 55, superintendent of the Huntington Beach Union High School District, will start his new job Aug. 1. He replaces David Barker, who resigned from the Baldwin Park district July 1 after being on administrative leave since March for “philosophical differences” with the school board, board President Robert Viramontes said Friday.
Kemper will receive a $108,000 annual salary. He also has served as superintendent in Palmdale and assistant superintendent in Garden Grove.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Occidental College, a master’s in school administration from Cal State Los Angeles, and a Ph.D. in education from USC.
