3 Area Teams Reach Tennis Quarterfinals

Three area doubles teams advanced into the quarterfinal round of the U.S. Tennis Assn.’s men’s 45-and-over hardcourt championships Thursday at the Westlake Tennis and Swim Club.
Jurgen Janson of Westlake Village and Larry Rundle of Calabasas advanced with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 win over Tom Edletsen (Los Angeles) and Allen Shapter (Palm Desert).
Eric Baer of Thousand Oaks and Terry Ehlers of Redding advanced with a 7-5, 7-6 win over Richard Johnson of El Segundo and Martin Erck of Santa Monica.
Jack Darrah (Westlake Village) and Tom Springer (Canoga Park) defeated Robert Littman (Honolulu) and David Fearheller (San Mateo), 6-1, 6-3.
