Surfers’ Assaults on Outsiders Deplored
I read with interest your article concerning localism at Lunada Bay. I unwittingly went surfing there last winter and experienced the verbal and rock assault described in your article.
I wonder why the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department does not send an undercover surfer/cop down there (do bring heavy backup--we are talking about a single-minded mob of 50 to 60 “people”) and arrest the more violent individuals. Perhaps a brick-sized rock thrown off of a 100-foot cliff is not considered assault with a deadly weapon on the peninsula?
