FCC to Study Phone Problems: Despite the latest rash of telephone service disruptions across the nation, the Federal Communications Commission said there is no evidence that the crucial phone network is deteriorating. However, after meeting in a closed-door session, the commissioners said they will convene a meeting of telecommunications experts soon to discuss the risks facing the nation’s increasingly sophisticated and complex phone network. The FCC also established a special team to investigate the best measures to respond to future problems.
