Breakstone Breaks It: Local television reporters turned their cameras on colleague Linda Breakstone of Channel 7 when she broke the press embargo on the Christopher Commission report on the LAPD. Angry reporters attempted to interview Breakstone about why she went on the air at 9:20 a.m. with a live report for “AM Los Angeles” just 20 minutes after the report was handed to the press Tuesday morning. She said she did it on orders of her boss, KABC news director Roger Bell. The report was embargoed until 11 a.m.; Breakstone reported from the Sheraton Grande Hotel in the midst of dozens of colleagues, all of whom were honoring the embargo. Bryce Nelson, the Christopher Commission spokesman, was visibly angered by her action.
