A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Cynthia Aline Frey, police said.
Stuart F. Ross, 26, was arrested shortly after he was seen with knife wounds to the neck and arm areas, allegedly fleeing from Frey’s nearby apartment in the 3500 block of Ruffin Road, Officer Frank Brito said.
A motorist driving along Ruffin Road about 8 a.m. Friday spotted Ross, who was reportedly running and had blood on his clothing, Brito said. She called police.
About 8:30 a.m., police responded to a call that Ross had driven up to the entrance of the 32nd Street Naval Station, Brito said.
Ross was supposed to be taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, and “during this time they obtained information regarding an incident that may have occurred on Ruffin Road,” Brito said.
Brito did not know how police got the information.
Police checked the apartment complex, where Frey was found dead in her bed with multiple stab wounds, Brito said.
Police did not know what relationship, if any, Ross had with Frey.
