Scott Erickson, one of the favorites to be the American League’s starting pitcher in the All-Star game, was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Minnesota Twins with a strained right elbow.
Erickson (12-3), whose placement on the list was retroactive to Sunday, leads the league with a 1.83 earned-run average and three shutouts in 16 starts.
The Twins also put outfielder-first baseman Gene Larkin on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin.
