7 Newcomers Appointed to City Panels

Seven new commissioners--including six women--have been appointed to vacancies on 32 citizen commissions charged with developing programs and regulations for the city, Mayor Tom Bradley announced Tuesday.
Another 34 commissioners were reappointed to oversee such departments as Water and Power, Transportation, and Recreation and Parks.
The seven new appointees are Maria Elena Durazo to the Airport Commission, Reynaldo Garay to the Harbor Commission, Willie Campbell to the Commission on the Status of Women, Josephine Ramirez to the Cultural Affairs Commission, Mona C. Soo Hoo to the CRA Relocation Appeals Board, and Ana Segura and Susan Steinhauser to the Fire and Police Pension System commission.
According to Bradley’s office, women now constitute 45% of those appointed to city commissions.
