More Wetlands Tours--In response to a number of requests for more tours of the Bolsa Chica wetlands, Amigos de Bolsa Chica will conduct year-round guided tours on the first Saturday of each month, beginning June 1.
Tours were previously offered on the first Saturday of each month only from October through March. Since the last public tour this year, on March 2, a number of people have asked the group to conduct docent-led tours throughout the summer tourist season. The tours will leave from the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve every 15 minutes or so between 9 and 10:30 a.m. each first Saturday. Amigos de Bolsa Chica hopes the more frequent tours will increase public interest in the wetlands throughout the year.
Also, docent-staffed information tables will be set up at the wetlands today, Saturday and next Sunday to help visitors learn more about the plants, birds and other animals found there.
Those who would like to visit the information tables or, in the future, go on a guided tour are asked to meet at the reserve, on Pacific Coast Highway half a mile south of Warner Avenue and across from Bolsa Chica State Beach.
