Delinquents to Be Assessed Fees
Property owners in Rancho Palos Verdes who are delinquent by more than six months in paying for trash collection services will be assessed a $45 fee to cover the city’s cost to attach the overdue charges to their property tax bills.
The City Council approved the administrative fee at Tuesday’s regular session after a brief public hearing. The new fee goes into effect May 16.
Still to be decided is the amount of a proposed additional fee, a delinquency penalty, that would give the city’s contracted trash haulers, Waste Management of California and Ivy Rubbish Disposal, further leverage in collecting timely payment for their services.
The city wants to set a penalty charge that would take effect in July.
